Short Synopsis: After fleeing her home at the Gallagher Academy for the summer, trying to find the truth about the Circle of Craven, Cammie wakes up at a convent, with no recollection of her entire summer.
My Thoughts: I absolutely love this series! If you've followed along with the last four Gallagher Girl series, this is one to definitely not miss!
Cammie Morgan wakes up at a convent, with no idea of what had happened to her the whole summer. She knows that she attends the Gallagher Academy, a school for spies, and even remembers the days leading up to leaving the school, but nothing about what had happened to her afterwords.
Cammie calls her mother and returns home to the Gallagher Academy with her friends, Bex, Macey, and Liz, and now Zach is attending her school as well. As Cammie returns, everyone is relieved to find that she is alive and well, but with amnesia. Everyone is welcoming and sensitive about Cammie's situation except Bex, who doesn't know what to make of the situation and is cold and distant.
Cammie finds it odd, that though she knows where everything is at the school, with some slightly different changes, she still has no clue what had happened to her and must find the answers.
With the consent of her mother, Cammie and her friends try to retrace the steps of Cammie's summer and to try to find the real truth of what had happened.
Another must read by Ally Carter! I love how unique the story is. And even though the last one was written so far back, I love how Carter gives you the low down on what had happened in the last book, without making it sound redundant, and actually how well it incorporates into the story.
Cammie is better than ever. Still a strong, independent character, even with amnesia, as she tries to figure out the mess that had happened to her. I felt that this story was one of Carter's most emotional one yet. We also find out more about the spy world, and the fact that it isn't all fun and games, as it usually is within the school. I felt that this novel had a more serious tone to it, and even though Cammie risks her life in the previous novels, this one is more daring, and I felt that Carter has really started to develop the story.
I wasn't a fan of why Bex was the only one that seemed to be really cold to Cammie and what had happened to her. And even though this is a fictional novel, I wondered that if the roles were reversed between Cammie and Bex, would Cammie have acted the way that Bex had with her?
I also loved the relationship between Cammie and Zach, and was a bit disappointed that there wasn't as much romance between the two as I'd hoped. And lastly, it felt really emotional especially in a reader's perspective, when Cammie was brainwashed to jump off the ledge. Overall, Carter captures the spy world and makes it her own, with a unique twist, and I can't wait to read more of this series.
Would I recommend this book: Yes!
Rating: I give this book a 5/5.
