Review: Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Book: Incarnate by Jodi Meadows
Pages: 372
Genre: Young Adult
Source: Sent from Harper Teen

Short Synopsis: In a world where people have been reincarnated for thousands of years, Ana, is a new individual, the only one of her kind, who has yet to be reincarnated. Ana embarks on a journey to find out why.

My Thoughts: Interesting plot, with characters put in entertaining situations, that leave you wanting more.

Heart is a world where everyone has been reincarnated for thousands of years. The only one who feels out of place is Ana, who has yet to be reincarnated. She is looked down upon, as a nosoul, by many people, including her own mother.
As soon as Ana turns eighteen, she insists on making a journey to Heart, her birthplace, to find out who her parents were, and why she is the way she is. But upon traveling to Heart, she runs into a Sylph and meets a stranger named Sam that helps her out of a jam.
Together, they team up and travel to Heart. Once they reach Heart, there are many issues standing in Ana's way. Not all the people of Heart are thrilled about Ana, and will do anything to stop her. Certain rules are enforced as Ana stays in Heart. She must have lessons, report cards, and a curfew. If Ana breaks any of these rules, Ana could be in serious danger.
As Ana continues to live in Heart, and with her new friend Sam, she starts to uncover Heart's past, discover what her parent's were like, starts to have a growing relationship with Sam. But as soon as things are finally coming together for Ana, she must find out who she can trust and who her enemies are, before something drastic happens.

I really enjoyed reading about the reincarnation of souls and how Ana, the main character was completely different than everyone else. It was interesting to read how she was singled out from almost anything, and how not everyone liked that Ana was unique, and the fact that she had replaced an existing soul didn't help matters either. Meadows writes with a unique style, almost mirroring real life situations, and it was also interesting to read how some people react to different changes.
I loved reading about the relationship between Sam and Ana, and how they continued to grow as they spent more time together. Meadows does an excellent job of really disliking the character Li, and how she treated Ana. It was also entertaining to read who Ana can trust and who Ana couldn't. I wasn't too fond of how Ana kept saying that she was a nosoul and how she shouldn't have her own things. But seeing as how she was raised by Li, was understandable. Overall, an interesting read about changes and finding your way.

Would I recommend this book: Yes

Rating: I give this book a 4/5.
