Short Synopsis: After a year of being in a coma where he spent his time in hell, Caden wakes up and resumes life as an exorcist, but with a new power, of being able to speak to demons. When Caden accepts a job to exorcise a demon, all hell breaks loose when the demon escapes, and it's up to Caden to make things right.
My Thoughts: I loved this novel. Very fast paced, and had you wanting to read more.
Caden Butcher is not your average teenager. After assisting his father on an exorcism, Caden was knocked into a year long coma when things go wrong, and literally lands in hell. When Caden wakes up a year later, he gains a special power, being able to speak the language of demons.
After Caden's accident, he continues his profession as an exorcist, but with a twist. Being in hell for a year, Caden has made both friends and enemies. With the help of his demon friend, Dan, Caden is now an exorcist to the stars, charging the stars thousands for his serivce. But things haven't been going great, when Caden receives a call for an exorcism, with a demon specially requesting him.
When Caden reluctantly agrees, the exorcism goes terribly wrong, and the demon escapes. Caden must find a way to make things right, and to stop the demon before he hurts anyone else.
A seriously great read. I loved the paranormal aspect of it all, with a little mix of demons, exorcisms, and necromancy. Usually authors mix too much of everything to make it sound more unique which actually ruins the novel, but Stokes makes this novel just right. I loved the main character, Caden, and reading about his struggles with the exorcist world. It was also a fun and interesting to read how the author also added animal possession in the mix. The characters were surprisingly fascinating to read, and not everybody is who the reader thinks they are. This story has it all, with hilarious scenes, and awesome characters, if you're into the paranormal world, be sure to add Demon Whisperer to your list.
Would I recommend this book: Yes
