Short Synopsis: Ever since the death of her boyfriend, Emma has been going to the graveyard. It isn't until she meets a mysterious boy, and her life changes forever.
My Thoughts: An interesting, unique story line about necromancy, and I look forward to reading more.
Emma's life has always been normal. That is, until her boyfriend, Nathan, died in a horrible accident. Ever since then, Emma has been visiting her dead boyfriend's grave sight at night. It isn't until one night, she meets a boy named Eric, that her life changes forever.
When Emma meets Eric, strange things start happening, and Emma has no clue what is going on. Eric explains that Emma has turned into a necromancer, and that he hunts and kills necromancers before they bring about death and destruction. But with Emma, things are different.
Emma doesn't want to be a necromancer. All she wants to do is help the lost souls of the ghosts find their way out of their trapped space, and to keep them from reliving their last horrible moments on earth. Can Emma save the ghosts and avoid being a full blown necromancer?

I was immediately drawn to the story because it was dark, and haunting. I wanted to find out more with Emma and how she became involved with necromancy. I liked how the main character tried to be as normal as she could, even knowing how powerful she could be with necromancy. I enjoyed reading how determined she was, to trying to help the lost souls, even though they were probably beyond worth saving, and how she felt sympathy and compassion towards the innocent souls.
There seems to be a lot going on in the novel, from Emma's obsessiveness of her dead boyfriend, to the lost souls, and even the story behind Eric and what he must do. I kind of felt lost at times, and confused, and also kind of wished that there was more of a backstory of how and why Emma was chosen to become a necromancer.
I enjoyed reading the chemistry between Emma and Eric, and can't wait to read on to see if there is a development. The character Chase was also an interesting addition, and I enjoyed reading the playful banter between Chase and Eric. In general, the novel ended in such a shocking way, I can't help but wait for the next installment.

Would I recommend this book: Sure

Rating: I give this book a 3.5/5.
