Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

A. This is a tough one. The one series that I really loved was Richelle Mead and her Vampire Academy series. A more recent one for this answer would also have to be Veronica Roth's Divergent Series. There's so much information in both series, that it would be hard to make into a movie. Be sure to leave your link so I can read your answer.

Review: Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen

My Thoughts: 

I was so excited when I saw that a Michelle Rowen book was coming out and had to get it. I loved her young  adult series, the Demon Princess, and her other adult fiction series as well. But for some reason, I just could not sit through this novel.

One major reason was the fact that the main character, Samantha, has so much chemistry between two boys, Bishop and Colin, and due to an unexpected supernatural experience, she can no longer kiss anyone. It sucked the chemistry out and was very frustrating that though there were a lot of feelings going on with these three major characters, nothing was really happening. 

Another major reason I couldn't complete the novel was the lack of actual information. Though we do get some information from a character named Natalie, the majority of it is just speculation, and a little over 100 pages in, Samantha still has no real clue as to what was going on with her situation.

One last thing that really bothered me was a bit of the randomness. I stopped at the part where her mother suddenly springs in the issue that Samantha is adopted, when Samantha wasn't even really thinking about that aspect of her life yet, and felt like the information was kind of out of the blue. Overall, though the novel had some originality to it, I just constantly kept loosing my focus, and didn't really hold my attention all that well.

Would I recommend this book: Eh

Rating: I give this book a DNF.

I absolutely LOVE Meg Cabot. If it's a Meg Cabot book, it's most definitely going on my TBR list. I loved reading this series, and though I must admit that it's been a while, I can't wait to read what whacky adventures Heather Wells is up to next. Review: Fracture by Megan Miranda

My Thoughts: Though what seemed to be an interesting adventure, this novel did not really hold my attention all that well. First off, what made Delaney Maxwell all that appealing that practically had every guy running after her? Her overprotective 'friend' Decker, who seems to want more in their relationship, but apparently made a bet in the past with his friends to kiss her? Then there's also Connor, Decker's best friend whom supposedly she kissed but doesn't know where their relationship stands? And now a new character named Troy, which the author seemed to be trying too hard to be mysterious and seems to hold Delaney's interest the most. 

Aside from the multiple love interests, after Delaney's accident, it also wasn't really explained why Delaney kept seeing things that no one else saw, that caused a person's death. Overall, the story didn't really hold my attention, I felt the author was trying too hard to be unique and mysterious, and the fact that Delaney couldn't really settle on one boy didn't seem to help much either.

Would I recommend this book: Not really

Rating: I give this book a DNF. 

Review: Bonds of Fenris by S. J. Bell

My Thoughts: A surprisingly entertaining read that has readers questioning the difference between humans and animals.

Talia Thornwood's life changed the moment she was attacked by a werewolf. She discovers a small group of people who have been infected just like her, and together they form a pack, both helping and supporting each other through this awful disease they must now face, each day for the rest of their lives.
Talia struggles with her inner werewolf, always wanting to feed, to attack on innocent human beings, and things have gotten worse, as her pack mates are always constantly bickering.
On a full moon one night, Talia runs into another werewolf, just like her, but different. This individual can change from being a werewolf to a human in an instant, and Talia is in awe. She tells her pack mates about this amazing individual, and wants to learn more, but her mates do not see her reasons, and consider him a threat.
It isn't until one night when one of her own pack mate is slaughtered by poachers, that Talia runs away, scared and frightened. Talia runs to the only person she can think of, Corwin, the other werewolf that she had met from her previous night. Talia tells him that she is tired of fighting her inner beast and wants to learn to control her wolf just as he had. Through a series of tests that Talia struggles through, Talia is finally able to find peace with her wolf.
As she returns to her old pack, Talia is faced with a dilemma. One of her pack mates is on the verge of insanity from their struggles with their inner wolf. Talia and Corwin must help control the rest of Talia's pack mates before things start going from bad, to worse. Can Talia and Corwin keep things in shape before one of Talia's pack mates attacks an innocent human being?

A different take on the werewolf genre. This novel, told through Talia's point of view, keeps the readers wanting more, as we struggle along side Talia, through her trials and triumphs. The readers also get to experience lycanthrope through Talia's pack mates as well, and how each has a unique in take on the same situation.

I also enjoyed the fact that this novel also questions the difference between humans and animals, and makes people think, that we are really not all that different. I loved the main character and the fact that when faced with a difficult decision, she doesn't give up, and approaches it with a different direction. I adored the chemistry between Talia and Corwin, with the fact that they were easy going, and that he was always there when she needed him.

There were a couple questions that left the reader hanging however. First major thought was when Pierce accused Corwin of being the wolf that attacked them, but wasn't really addressed, and left aside. And the second was when Corwin was doubtful of his relationship with Talia, saying that it wouldn't last long. Overall, a really interesting read, and I wouldn't mind continuing with this story.

Would I recommend this book: Yes

Rating: I give this book a 4/5.
